Channel One came to us to create an online interactive application where students could learn the science and facts behind extreme weather. Our solution was to design and build a mobile responsive application where students could learn geography and science in an informative and fun way. They did this by controlling their own severe weather events. The landing screen of the application lets the student click on a map of the world revealing interesting facts about various extreme weather events. After that, the student then chooses one either a tornado, hurricane or blizzard simulator where they can control the intensity of the storm. They also can learn science facts about that particular weather event. For the design, I created a clean, simple yet fun interface that reflected the Channel One brand. For the simulations, I worked closely with the developers to make sure what we were creating was both scientifically valid, but still engaging and usable.
